I't's getting pretty batty around here!! Parent/Teacher ​conference sheets are coming home tonight with a time for us to meet next week. Please keep an eye out for those and send them back ASAP letting us know if that time will work or not!

WONDERFUL NEWS......our class sold the most butter braids!! The school made a profit of 6,700 and the 5th grade class sold a total of $3,063!!!! I AM SO PROUD OF THESE KIDS!!!! We will be treated to a Pizza Party, and I am probably going to be scheduling it for Halloween day! Thank you in advance for encouraging them to go out and sell!!

Halloween is upon us! Just like always the students will come to school in their normal clothes next week on Thursday, but will be able change into their costumes around 1:30. Please leave all costume weapons at home if your student has one. If you do not hear from me personally via email, then you are not signed up to bring anything for our party! I will send out details on parade info next Monday. I do not know these yet! :) Our Halloween party will look a little different this year. All treats must be sent pre-packaged, and we will not have a traditional party where parents come in. I will make sure they have something fun to do though, and will take lots of pictures for you! I will probably let them vote on a Halloween movie or a few Halloween games.

This week we will be working our tails off to finish our Veterans Day essays! They are coming along nicely, and I have been able to teacher edit a lot last week! I will be submitting all of those on Friday. The kids are doing such a great job with these!

You may have noticed a point change on the last two spelling tests we have taken. I have changed the point value on those from 100 to 40. I had not really put much thought into how much of a percentage of their overall grade that their spelling grade was making. I will continue to do that through the rest of the year. I used to put their spelling tests in an actual spelling category (and they were worth 100 pts.), but this year I am doing my grades a little differently and doing a Language Arts grade, vs. spelling, writing, reading, english etc. It worked better to sync with Google Classroom this way. 

 

The students will also have their 40 day quiz this Thursday!! I am so proud of all their hard work and dedication to learning these important academic vocabulary words! I think that is all I need to share this week!
